The Ferrari 296 GTB is the italian brand’s new hybrid and plug-in super sports car. A one-of-a-kind car with 830 hp of combined power and 25 km of 100% electric autonomy. It becomes the car with the best power-to-weight ratio in the cavallino range. The name is inspired by the relationship with the engine, as the first two numbers represent the displacement and the third the configuration: the first V6 at 120º. The final part of the name, GTB, refers to Gran Turismo Berlinetta.
It is the car with the shortest wheelbase of all Ferrari (4562 mm overall length). Above all it is a fun car to drive and very manageable due to its measurements and the tightness of its weight. The 2,992 cc engine is related to a modified eight-ratio dual-clutch transmission gearbox used in the SF90 Stradale. The purpose is none other than to offer a more exciting operation, cutting the first gears.
Next to the thermal engine, a second electric motor generates 166 hp of power and 315 Nm of maximum torque. As we mentioned at the beginning the total power of the propulsion system is 830 hp and the torque of 740 Nm. Thanks to this configuration, the Ferrari 296 GTB reaches the 100 km/h from standstill in 2.9 seconds, 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds and one maximum speed of 330 km/h. The hybrid system part has been created to minimize its center of gravity by placing the battery in a very low position and creating a flatter engine than the norml. This brings its position closer to the ground and improves dynamic behavior.
