The Audi Q8 was unveiled in 2018 as a complement to the Audi Q7. A large SUV that has eliminated the ability to carry up to 7 people for a more dynamic stance. This takes shape with the fame that the Lamborghini Urus gained as part of the Volkswagen Group. A very fast car setting a time of seven minutes and 42 seconds on the Nürburgring track.
This Audi RS Q8 is a very aggressive and sporty car, unlike what we can understand by an SUV that is usually the style of car with a not very aggressive aesthetic and easily accessible and spacious seat.
Speaking of Audi’s sportiest SUV and also the most expensive, this car has a length of 5,012 meters long, with a height of 1.69 meters and a width of almost 2 meters. These measurements cannot be compared to its younger brother the ‘normal’ Q8. This car differs from the range just like the Audi RS6 Avant in its menacing nature.
We can distinguish the RS Q8 from the rest of the range by its distinctive piano black front grille with a wider mesh that matches the side air intakes. Also new are the large 22-inch wheels, although you can optionally pack the 23-inch wheels available in two different colors, a roof spoiler and a significantly lower rear diffuser with RS-shaped exhaust pipes.
If we look at the rear we see that the exhaust pipes are simple trims and the exhausts are actually hidden inside, in total the car has four exhaust pipes, two on each side. A feature of this RS Q8 compared to the RS6 or RS7 is that the wheel widens are not used, which is a success because the car would be too wide.
AUDI RS Q8 ENGINE
When we start this car we see that it has an incredible sound and it is not for less. Under the hood hides a V8 engine with a 4.0-liter biturbo block of 600 hp and 800 Nm of torque. This engine is the same as the RS6 and RS7. With all the weight that this engine has to move Audi has reported that the acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour is 3.8 seconds. The cost of the car will be almost 15 liters at 100, not bad for a car like this.
Considering that we are driving a vehicle of 2,390 kg and with a large size, one would expect a little dynamic behavior, but this is not the case at all. The set-up of the chassis includes suspensions that in the sportiest modes hardens a lot and is complemented by an active stabilizer. In addition, the quattro system distributes by default 60% to the rear axle which will make the car can control it at all times and also feel a push when you give it gas.
THE INTERIOR OF THE AUDI RS Q8
The front seats are upholstered in leather as standard and have a sporty appearance, fully electrically adjustable and with the option of greater or lesser lateral support both in the rear and on the bench. They’re great considering the variety of fit options and, thanks to the padding, are more comfortable than sports ones.
As with the rest of the latest models, the dashboard of the Audi RS Q8 almost completely avoids the physical buttons and has only two screens: one for the infotainment system with MMI Navigation Plus of the latest generation and the other screen is for air conditioning.
The rear seat space is improved and, despite the lack of a large center console, the central square is not too comfortable. For two passengers, it is a spacious car, even in terms of height. It does not stand out in width due to the armrests of the door, but it has vertical and inclination regulation.
