The 1998 Bologna Motor Show marked the debut of Lamborghini’s long-awaited Diablo GT2, which only a few months later was replaced by an even more powerful and extreme version: the Diablo GT1 (in Geneva in 1999).
The two 1998 GT2 prototypes were extensively modified to lay the foundations for the future Diablo GT and G1. These cars marked the history of motorsport by achieving victory in two famous championship races of the French Automobile Federation, as well as triumphing at other circuits such as Nogaro and Spa-Francorchamps.
This legendary 1997 Diablo GT2 distinguished itself in its brief racing career and eventually went on to a well-deserved retirement at the Lamborghini Museum. In 2015 he was released to travel abroad and is now in a private collection in Japan as an icon of style and speed.
