The number 5 has always been special to BMW, as it was the first model to bear the designation “Series” followed by a number. The 5 Series grows in performance and comfort with this eighth generation, allowing for a safer and more comfortable ride<\/strong> at all times. Changes to the exterior and interior design of the new BMW 5 Series<\/h2>\n

The 5 Series has grown in size, increasing almost 10 cm in length (5.06 m), 2 cm in wheelbase (3.00 m), 3 cm in width (1.90 m) and almost 4 cm in height (1.52 m). It practically reaches the dimensions of the penultimate BMW 7 Series.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In terms of design, you can perceive an evolution rather than a radical change. The designers of the BMW 5 Series have kept the classic styling of the 5 Series<\/strong>, although the rear features changes with a less defined third volume and a boot lid with a greater slope.<\/p>\n

The interior of the new 5 Series retains BMW’s identity while being clearly more modernized and technological. The dashboard is particularly sophisticated and complete, with fewer buttons and more screens. The car includes a large 14.9 touchscreen<\/strong> and a 12.3 digital instrument cluster.<\/p>\n

The cabin conveys an impression of quality with careful adjustments and finishes,<\/strong> although it also features an excess of “piano black” surfaces and numerous touch sensors that do not have the ease of use and precision of traditional buttons.<\/p>\n

The only diesel engine available for the new 5 Series in Spain is the 520d version. Its two-litre four-cylinder engine has gained 7 hp of power and has an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.<\/p>\n

The M Sport Package<\/strong>, despite its larger size and weight, allows the 5 Series to maintain the balance between driving comfort on fast roads and agility on secondary roads, being able to bring confidence to the driver thanks to its agility and stability, good braking ability and precise steering.<\/p>\n

The BMW 520d has a starting price of \u20ac60,050, which goes up to \u20ac62,600 in the xDrive model. When you add the M Sport package and various extras, the price can go up to \u20ac87,050.<\/p>\n

Despite the significant changes, the new 5 Series retains the essence of BMW<\/strong>, offering a combination of classic design and modern technology. However, the increase in options and prices may be a con for some buyers, as can the less versatile trunk and complex infotainment system.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the second row of seats brings a touch of luxury, with comfortable and spacious seats,<\/strong> as well as details such as the panoramic roof and heated seats. However, the middle passenger will have to contend with a large transmission tunnel and a hard back.<\/p>\n

Although the boot of the new model has surprisingly lost 10 litres of capacity<\/strong>, it still offers a good capacity of 520 litres and ample cargo access.<\/p>\n

Driving Experience in the 2024 BMW 5 Series<\/h2>\n

Attention to detail and premium quality are evident in the interior of the 2024 BMW 5 Series, which is evident from the moment you enter the cabin.<\/p>\n

During the dynamic introduction event of the BMW 5 Series, BMW provided the opportunity to experience both the 520d sDrive\/xDrive diesel version<\/strong> , which varies depending on whether rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is preferred, and the new electric addition, the BMW i5. With 194 horsepower, both diesel variants allow them to carry the ECO badge, thanks to the incorporation of a 48-volt light hybridization system.<\/p>\n

Both cases use the inline four-cylinder diesel engine<\/strong> , linked to an eight-speed Steptronic gearbox, which is comfortable to operate. It allows fully automatic control, or sequential by means of paddles placed behind the steering wheel, or by the remote control itself. In all scenarios, transitions between gears are smooth and effective, with no abruptness.<\/p>\n

At five meters long, the 2024 BMW 5 Series is a large sedan, with a spacious interior and a 520-liter boot<\/strong>. Although this represents a reduction compared to the previous generation of the BMW 5 Series, it is still more than adequate for the type of vehicle.<\/p>\n

The turbodiesel version<\/strong> is ideal for long motorway journeys, and the available power allows for fast driving if desired. However, let’s remember that despite its ability to accelerate from 0 to 100, this is not a sports car.<\/p>\n

The steering wheel offers a fairly direct response, and is complemented by the tranquility of a quiet ride, ideal for long distances, thanks to the excellent soundproofing of the interior. Driving comfort<\/strong> is enhanced by the comfortable seats. Fuel consumption is impressively low, and it allows you to maintain an average of less than 6 litres per 100 km. With a starting price of \u20ac60,050, this version is the most affordable in the range, noticeably cheaper than the petrol-powered 520i.<\/p>\n
